Senior Rotarians
Kayla Greiner and Casey Nail, both from Vinita, will be our Senior Rotarians for this month. Be sure and make them feel welcome.
ROD and Weekly programs.
Please be sure to note your ROD date and get me an updated bio and your program particulars as early as possible. I need this at least one week in advance. Your ROD date will be posted at least one month in advance. If you have a problem getting a program, let me know and I will be glad to help you with one. Remember, if you do not get me this info on time you get to be in charge of the bulletin!!
Remember, for the future, we will have a Rotary meeting every Wednesday. How about a New Yearís Resolution to make the weekly Rotary meeting a priority? You get to spend some quality time with quality folks, break a little bread if the Pres-elect is on the ball and hear some interesting programs! What a deal!!

Rotarian of the Day: Jimmie S. Ownbey
Jimmie grew up in Spearman, Texas, the son of a farmer/rancher. He spent more time in the saddle and behind a plow than he'd like to remember. Graduating from High school in 1965, he attended two years at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas playing football there one year. Then he transferred to Texas A & M, College Station, Texas where he received a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science in 1969 and his doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1972.
Dr. Ownbey moved to Vinita in 1973 with Susan, his high school sweetheart, and their two children Tim and Liz. His third child, Sara arrived in 1982, the only "okie" of the family.
He is most proud of his wife, Susan, retired from teaching after 29 years; his son Tim, a graduate of OSU School of Osteopathic Medicine; board certified in Neurology, his daughter Liz with a B.S. in nursing from OU and a masters in Business administration, and daughter Sara with a B.S. from OSU in Microbiology and currently in her fourth year of medicine at OSU School of Osteopathic Medicine.
While in Vinita, Jimmie helped start Vinita Little League, starting Football, Basketball, and Soccer. He also co-founded Hope Vineyard Church in the mid 80's.
Dr. Ownbey is past president of NE Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association, and current member of Oklahoma Veterinarian Medical Association and American Veterinary Medical Association. He has been at Vinita Veterinary Center since 1973 and limits his practice to dogs and cats. He enjoys dentistry, surgery, diagnostics and preventive medicine.
