January is designated as Rotary Awareness Month. After over 100 years of service worldwide, many of those in the
community are still not familiar with Rotary and what it is all about.
The Vinita Rotary Club, chartered in 1919, is a service club whose members have been taking the lead in serving the
community in a variety of ways.
Over the past decade, local Rotarians have focused on programs which benefit youth, such as high school senior
scholarship fundraisers, leadership training camps for juniors, speech contests for high-schoolers, giving
dictionaries to fifth-graders, reading events for elementary children that promote literacy, and playground upgrades
and maintenance for elementary children.
Rotarians believe in their motto, "Service Above Self," and service is what is at the heart of everything they do.
Joining in on community efforts, Rotarians often pair up with Vinita's other primary civic club, the Lions Club,
to fund worthy projects, or lend a helping hand in the form of volunteering time and labor.
Whether it's picking up trash and loading it up during citywide cleanups, building a concession stand for summer
sports programs, or sponsoring a golf tournament which raises funds to benefit local organizations, Rotarians serve
in ways too numerous to count.
Each quarter, Rotarians donate funds locally to Vinita and Craig County organizations, whether it's the Salvation
Army's Backpack Nutrition Program that feeds local hungry kids, or the Vinita Literacy Council, which provides
one-on-one tutoring for adults who cannot read. But it doesn't stop on the local level.

The Four-Way Test Followed by Rotarians worldwide in their business and professional lives, The Four-Way Test was created by Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor in 1932. It has since been translated into more than 100 languages and is used by organizations and individuals throughout the world. Of the things we think, say or do 1.Is it the TRUTH? 2.Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3.Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4.Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?![]()
